I ventured out of corporate life 9 years ago and haven’t looked back! Growing and managing a business is challenging, exciting, exhausting, frustrating and sometimes seems impossible but with my team of talented, committed and yes challenging individuals we are driving forward and having a lot of fun along the way and learning all the while.
And what could be better than that? As a learning organization we are 100% committed to our own development as well as the development of our client’s staff members. This year, having achieved my MA, I was invited to be a guest lecturer at Middlesex University. Teaching third year degree students studying HRM and HRD has been another learning curve and an immensely enjoyable one. The best learning takes place just outside the comfort zone – and my students ensured I remained out of my comfort zone! What a great opportunity to work with our future HR professionals.
I have been helped by numerous people along the journey – sometimes just a timely piece of advice by someone I met only briefly at a networking event to a handful of truly inspirational teachers and mentors.
So it’s important to give something back and I’m very pleased to be part of a mentoring project run by my branch of the CIPD www.cipd.co.uk
